Professional Development Summer 2014 Skecthnotes

Every summer for the past three years, I’ve been extremely lucky to have attended  amazing professional development programs being offered through my school. Our school has been extremely supportive of giving us teachers great opportunites to learn the latest educational theories and best practices.  Our own faculty has lead these workshops as well.  The three PD workshops this week has been insanely helpful and entertaining for me and my colleagues.  I wish every educator can someday attend a workshop from Ramsey, Tracy and Ellen.

Enhance and Streamline Digital Workflow

Ramsey Musallam
My first first live sketchnotes started with Ramsey’s workshop. I missed a lot as he shared many awesome things that blew me away.

First up, we had the awesome Ramsey Musallam who shared  a variety of digital tools to support teaching and engage learning. As he is a Google Certified Teacher and TED Talk speaker, you can’t help but learn a lot from him.  This is my fourth Ramsey workshop and my mind gets blown every time!

Haiku Learning Management System

Haiku Learning
Led by TracHaiku Learning Management System
Our own Tracy Sena at Convent High School and Journalism Educator Award winner,  gave us a great jumpstart on our new Haiku Learning management system (LMS) that will be implemented this coming school year.  Like me, Tracy is an Educational Innovation Coordinator, but up in the girls high school.

Design Thinking

And rounding out the week, we had Stanford d.school’s wonderful Ellen Deutsher  leading us through Design Thinking skills that naturally works for teachers and students. Ellen moderates a weekly K12 Design Thinking Twitter Chat (#dtk12chat) that brings together educators from around the world. This will be a major focus for me the next year.
